@ Christ Lutheran Church in Valparaiso, IN the Ladies Summer Bible Study has a participant from Singapore, Asia via SKYPE !
Seems like just a few weeks ago, I blogged about a new Ladies Bible Study starting up here in Valparaiso, IN at my church. If you live around here, you'll know the one, with all big construction trucks and new building going on at the Corner of Campbell St. & Vale Park Road.
On the 1st night of this study, one of the ladies mentioned that she had a friend overseas who may like to join in. Since they already communicate via SKYPE,and our Church has wireless internet access, the technology was in place to, as the song says.....reach out!
We extended her an invitation to join us via Laptop with built in video camera and last night that invite was graciously accepted.
It Was AWESOME ! ...but then, so is our GOD :)
Connections like this that foster fellowship around the globe are priceless!
Just look at the ->Google Mapof how far apart these 2 cities are!
Luckily, the time zone differences meshed for this particular study. As the evening sun faded here in Valpo, we discussed the lessons to be learned from the story of Lot's Wife, with a sister who saw morning sunlight in Singapore. We all laughed, as we discovered the similarities in weather. It was 90 and humid in Asia and we've had a hot few days of summer lately in NW Indiana as well!
What a blessing to be able to come together and study The Word no matter how many miles separate us....
Can I hear an Amen ? !
The world is getting smaller, thanks to technology and social media! I pray those reading will be inspired to reach out and connect to others around the globe using these new means to share the Message...yes you can!
