It's amazing how many homes we list in Northwest Indiana to discover that the Homestead and Mortgage exemptions were never filed with the COUNTY to reduce what is owed each year in Property Taxes!
Just a Reminder of this Important Property Tax Notice For Home Owners in Indiana ->
- If you purchased a Home in 2011, most likely the Title Company had you sign a document to file your Homestead Exemption...however, you will need to verify it was accepted and posted by the Auditor prior to the end of this year 12/31/11.

- Your Mortgage Exemption needs to be filed in person!
You will need to bring to the county office: Key Number or tax Parcel ID # along with your mortgage recording number, lender name and loan balance when you file. (along with a drivers license ID with your NEW address - so go to BMV 1st if necessary :)
