Last week while in Chicago, IL at NAR headquarters, I had a tour of the building with other CRS members.
I was impressed with the Global Perspective of Real Estate and the stats this department provided about
the shift in U.S. Demographics.
Born & Raised in Chicago, I know my south side neighborhood was a melting pot of ethnicity's!
I am 1st generation Polish myself and bi-lingual. This has helped alleviate the communication barrier that
can be involved with buyers and sellers who have used our services in the past in which English was their
2nd language.
Our Brokerage has a bi-lingual Spanish speaking agent and recently her translation services were valuable
in getting a short sale transaction to close.
I'm considering a CIPS designation as a future goal.
Northwest Indiana has minority groups and serving multi-cultural clients is a growing market according
to 2010 census data.

Jeff & Grace, the CIPS Designation is definitely worthwhile. In addition to the training, CIPS has a production requirement (like CRS), so a designee has to have several international transactions under their belt before earning the designation. Good luck!
Grace Your bi-lingual capability is both cultural heritage and an asset. I was raised in NM and regret never really learning Spanish fluently
Hi Eric - thanks for the encouragement - I choose to become a CRS because of the differentiation of a production requirement with this designation. Glad to hear that CIPS requires walking the walk also :)
Hi Karen - the world is getting smaller and knowing another language helps business!
Appreciate you both taking time to stop by and comment.
Sincerely, Grace
