Some of you know by reading my past Blog posts, I am blessed to be starting my 2nd year as Church Council Member and Stewardship Chair at Christ Lutheran Church located across the street from Valparaiso High School.
Recently, the city approved the sale of several acres of Prime Property at the corner of Vale Park Road and Campbell Street adjacent to our Church. So we are busy in raising funds with a Capital Campaign to start building a New Sanctuary this Spring!
Our Pastor, Jerry Castleman picked Psalm 85, specifically verse 9 NIV as the title for our Capital Stewardship Campaign to build the New Church.
I feel strongly about PRAYER guiding us through every aspect of our daily lives....and especially this growth process, so I volunteered for the position of Prayer Director during this time.
I am so excited to share that we are hosting a Prayer Vigil at Christ Lutheran Church on Wednesday, February 4th, 2009 from 6am till 10pm and the Public is Welcome to come join us ... drop in whenever you can.
There will be Music Interludes every hour on the hour by talented congregational members either playing musical instruments or singing.
Each half hour on the Hour, there will be Readings from the Scripture by CLC members who have chosen to share passages that inspire them to pray.
The rest of the time will be for silent reflection, Bibles will be provided, to read and reflect on God's word.
The Youth Groups are making prayer beads to give out as gifts to those attending.
A Host Table will be set up with volunteer Greeters - and a special keepsake scrapbook is being made by a talented member to use for guests sign in.
We will have plenty of Prayer Request Forms that guests can fill in and leave with us - for their prayer requests to be lifted up at Future Sunday Services.
Also, There will be a collection of prayers written by congregation members that will be sealed and buried in a Time Capsule in our planned PRAYER WALK which connects our corner parcel of Church land to the existing Community Walking Paths!
If you can join us in person, or even take time to pray with us from a remote location that day, we would welcome it!
For those unable to attend, but who wish to submit a prayer request in advance please feel free to email me @ safrin@jorsm.com with "Prayer Request" as the topic in your email.

I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

Hi Grace, this sounds like it would be more than worth the drive from Michigan. This will be an uplifting event that will touch all the lives that attend and extend to those that don't by the hands and words of those that do! Very nice post Grace.
Grace, After reading your post I feel the tears of joy coming. I cannot help but think of our Lord looking down from above reading and seeing what is happening within your community. I too use to live in Valparaiso many years ago. It was my first position as a Mortgage lender right downtown. I helped so many people with debt control, and came to love the community.
Just think of what is going to happen during this event. God will answer prayer on this day, and even before as He said all we have to do is have enough faith the size of a mustard seed.
Thank you so much for keeping Cydi in prayer. Keep us posted as to all the answered prayers too. God is not one to let us down, He is here, He is real, and is going to answer our requests.

I have had an overwhelming repsonse from our congregation members who want to participate or volunteer to help out in some way! There is much to pray about these days, World peace, Our nation, each other's situations., it is heart warming to see many want to come.
Hello Bob - I remember last year you commented on one of my posts that you are formerly from Valpo! I will certainly lift up Cindy's healing in prayer daily aas well as at the prayer vigil. Thanks for taking time to stop by and share your heart felt remarks! Funny corelation to your comment... I actually passed out photos of a mountain to some of the participants of the Capital campaign(from a recent trip to heavely in CA-lots of mountains there:) with a mustard seed taped to the corner of each photo and the verse Jesus said aboutif our faith was even just that of a mustard seed mountains would move!
